1. Our Role
SettleWell connects injured parties with licensed personal injury attorneys and medical providers. When you submit an intake form, you may provide health-related information (such as injury type, treatment status, or medical provider details). This information is used solely to evaluate your case and match you with appropriate legal and medical professionals.
2. How We Handle Health-Related Information
We treat health-related information with heightened care:
- We use it only for the purpose of evaluating and routing your case inquiry
- We do not sell health-related information to advertisers or data brokers
- We share it only with the partner attorneys or medical providers evaluating your case
- We retain it only as long as necessary to fulfill the referral purpose
- We transmit it over encrypted HTTPS connections
3. Our Partner Medical Providers
The medical providers in our network are independently licensed healthcare professionals. When your case is referred to a medical provider, that provider becomes responsible for handling your health information in accordance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. Each partner provider maintains their own Notice of Privacy Practices, which they are required to provide to you upon establishing a patient relationship.
4. Compliance Tracking for Partners
SettleWell's platform includes compliance tracking features for our partner network:
- Medical partners: We track NPI (National Provider Identifier) numbers and request confirmation of HIPAA compliance status as part of our onboarding process. Partners are responsible for maintaining their own HIPAA compliance.
- Legal partners: We track State Bar numbers and request confirmation of current malpractice insurance coverage. Partners are responsible for compliance with their state bar's rules of professional conduct.
These tracking features are administrative tools. SettleWell does not audit, certify, or guarantee the compliance status of any individual partner.
5. Your Choices
Submitting health-related information through our intake forms is voluntary. You may choose not to provide certain details; however, this may affect our ability to match you with appropriate professionals.
You may request deletion of your information by contacting us at the address below. We will honor such requests to the extent permitted by law and our operational requirements.
